The recent success of Lambrusco, which now seems to have shed its stereotypical image as a cheap wine to become one of the many oenological gems of Italy, has undoubtedly come through some companies that, right from their production philosophy, distanced themselves from the old model. This is definitely the case with Paltrinieri, currently a 15-hectare vineyard with an average production of 90,000 bottles, responsible for the best current labels of this type. Here then is a great Lambrusco, a great Sorbara. Congratulations to Alberto Paltrinieri and his family who run a beautiful winery, started by his pharmacist grandfather in the 1920s, managing to convey the most authentic soul of the denomination into the bottle, with a touch of contemporary charm that makes the wines even more focused and with a distinct personality. All the labels are successful, from those obtained from refermentation in autoclaves to those produced with the Classic Method, with a special mention for this Sorbara, which, together with Leclisse, has become somewhat of the company's flagship product: aromas of small wild berries and slight herbaceous nuances, a creamy and crisp palate, rather vertical and with great depth. An ideal companion for local dishes and cured meats, but also decidedly at ease in more daring pairings, such as with fish.
